WooHoo!! 63 lbs!! I'm halfway there!!
Today was a great day! Went to my Betty's class--Everyday Delicious--and made some very good stuff. Managed to resist trying the Tunisian Orange Cake and dropped it off at work so it wasn't at home to tempt me. I went by one of the petrol stations in Harrogate and checked my lottery papers--and won L20. Not enough to retire on :-) but still nice to win.
The Betty's class covered whole roast chicken with lemon & rosemary, Greek lamb koftas served with a rich tomato & oregano sauce, Cajun spiced salmon goujons with a tangy vegetable salsa and Tunisian orange cake. The tangy vegetable salsa has fennel--not exactly my idea of a salsa ingredient--but it actually was good. Maybe I'll eventually develop a taste for fennel...
Plus, my blood pressure is looking good (120/65) so she is adjusting my meds. She's putting me on a lighter dose of one of them because a side effect is swelling in the ankles--which is why I have to take a diuritic. Sometimes you have to wonder!
It's an early night tonight since I have a dayshift tomorrow.
WAHOOOO!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hitting the halfway point!!! That's FABULOUS and I am really PROUD of you. And cutting back on meds is a nice bonus!
Not to mention a Betty's class and a winning lotto ticket.
Too bad we don't live closer, I'd be happy to take that orange cake off your hands! ;)
Congratulations again!!
Love
Jen
Thanks, Jen! I'm happy to report that I got the recipes typed today. The orange cake is awesome and I think you'll love the chicken. I really appreciate the encouragement.

WAHOOOOO is right ! I second what Jen said above. Holy Freaking Loly- that is wild crazy. How on God's earth have you been doing this?? Im impressed, amazed and just plain proud of you and in awe of your accomplishment/ You have to be thrilled about all this and I can't get over the BP reading. Gretchen, my pressure isnt that good and Im on meds. This is going to motivate me to buckle down. Losing 63 pounds is WOW, simply WOW. I think the lottery thing too just goes to my notion that good things come to good people and you are one of those good people. Congrats on this halfway mark and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThings have been a little crazy for us here with all the home improvements and work and my flowers and now I have 2 brothers in law who have been in the hospitals and what not ,so I have been negligent about getting on the computer and seeing what is going on with everyone but I was glad to see this news about your success.
Lots of love and hugs to you, Linee
Hey Linee! Thanks for the encouragement! I've been doing the Dukan Diet and it really works well for me. I'm not sure it would work as well for someone who really likes fruit but I like it and it's working. And the best part is that it hasn't slowed down my travelling :-)
DeleteI hope things go well for your brothers-in-law and they get out of the hospital soon. Your home improvemens look great! Lots of work but worth it in the end.
Love and hugs, Gretchen
Great job and congrats on half way!!
